Welcome Address by the Registrar/Chief Executive:
Hello,You are welcome to the new official website of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN). The RRBN is a category B parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health. It was established by decree 42 of 1987 now CAP RI LRN2004 to regulate the practice of Radiography in Nigeria. To be able to do this, the RRBN is empowered to keep a register of all Radiography in Nigeria Etc.
The vision of the RRBN is to position Radiography at the top of health profession in Nigeria. Our Mission is to promote and enhance the image of Radiography in Nigeria and in the West African Sub-region through:
- Provision of policies for qualitative academic and professional education at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Constant provision and revision of policy frame works for quality services and ethical standards for the practice of the profession; and
- Entrenchment of measures and programs that is capable of building and sustaining the professional pride and ego of the Radiographer at the highest level.

Some Quick Facts about RRBN and Radiography
Diagnostic Radiographers
They produce images of the internal organs of the body so that injury or disease can be identified. They use the following imaging modalities to practice: Conventional X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound Imaging and Angiography.
Radiography Study
Radiography is currently a 5-year undergraduate course of study leading to Bachelor, Medical Radiography in the following Universities: University of Calabar, University of Nigeria Nsukka, University of Lagos, University of Maiduguri, Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, Uthman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto and Bayero University Kano. The Board ensures that strict adherence to the Standard Curriculum of study is followed. The Board (RRBN) has also currently developed a white paper (at the sub-regional level) on a six (6) year Doctor of Radiography Programme anchored by the West African Health Organization (WAHO).
Therapeutic Radiographers
They use ionizing radiation mainly to treat patients who have cancer. They do this by using appropriate equipment to deliver pre-determined doses of radiation on tumour cells.

PROF. MARK CHUKWUDI OKEJI
Registrar/Chief Executive
PROF. Mark Chukwudi Okeji graduated from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka with B.Sc (Hons) Radiography. He went ahead to obtain M.Sc and PhD in Radiography from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was the first to obtain a PhD in Radiography from any department in Nigeria and indeed West Africa.
Prior to joining University of Nigeria as a Lecturer in 2006, he had worked as a clinical Radiographer at National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu where he rose to the rank of Assistant Chief Radiographer.
Before being appointed the Registrar/CEO of Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN), he was the;
• Associate Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus,
• Senior Lecturer in Department of Radiography and Radiological Sciences, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus,
• Immediate Past President, The Association of Radiographers of Nigeria (ARN),
• Past Vice-President, Pan African Congress of Radiology and Imaging (PACORI), 2015-2017
• President Africa Radiography Forum.
Prof. Okeji had in the past served diligently as the National Secretary and Vice President 2 of the Association of Radiographers of Nigeria (ARN).
He was a member of the following Governing Boards, Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, University of Nigeria College of Medicine Board and University of Nigeria Postgraduate Board.
